About
What is Eros Inc.?
Well, are you asking about the online comic or the company within the comic?
Let’s start with the comic.
Eros Inc. is an online comic about a twenty-something Jewish girl who is hired to be a Cupid for her neighborhood, Silver Lake (a small borough in Los Angeles). The presentation of the story is similar to that of a television show; the story is separated into seasons, with individual ten chapters making up the seasonal arc. If you are new to the comic (welcome!) I would recommend jumping to the beginning of the comic and start there. Or you can go chapter by chapter, since individual story lines can sit on their own. But you’ll appreciate the references (and understand the characters more) if you start at the very beginning.
It updates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and has been running since July 1st, 2008.
Okay, so what is the company of Eros Inc.?
Eros Incorporated, the company, helps the romantically inept (or just plain lonely) find love. They do not force the affection, but rather present the possibility. It is then up to the individual to decide whether or not to follow through. The company is rather secretive about how they decide on whom they “romantically intervene.”
What are Cupids?
“Cupids” are human beings hired by Eros Inc. to find love for the hopelessly romantic and romantically hopeless.
Were Cupids always human?
Not always. The original Cupids were once exactly how art depicts them; childlike Putti with bows and arrows. But as mankind evolved, the Putti became out of touch. And lazy. They eventually stepped down to a role with far less responsibility.
The Mailroom.
How does the company work?
Each country has it’s own Eros Inc. headquarters, and each state/city/town has it’s own district. Individual Cupids are designated neighborhoods as their territory to cover. For instance, in Los Angeles, one Cupid would cover Silver Lake/Los Feliz/Echo Park area while another would handles Hollywood Hills.
In each neighborhood, there is also a “Namer.” These are the ones who scout out those in need and submit their names to be considered. Once the paperwork is filled and filed, the name is brought to the specific Cupid for matching via the PPS (Putto Postal Service).
How does matching work?
Up until Mid-2009, Cupids used individual totems specially made for clients. Cupids would apply the object to their client (their shoulder, favorably), then rub the item on their target’s body. The rest is up to the now matched couple.
Mid Summer 2009, Horace Wojciechowski, CEO of Eros Inc.:California, instituted an experimental return to matching with bows and arrow in an effort to increase efficiency. The difference between the love arrows and love objects are that the arrows are enhanced significantly and not individually made, causing Cupids to wear gloves as to not touch the arrowhead.
In Early Summer 2009, Horace Wojciechowski also instituted a mandate, forcing all matches to occur in twenty-four hours.
How do the Cupids decide the best match?
Some pick randomly, letting “fate” decide, while others take personality into account. The latter is what Eros Inc. prefers, but every Cupid works differently.
In Early Summer 2009, Horace Wojciechowski also instituted a mandate, forcing all matches to occur in twenty-four hours.
Are Cupids paid?
While they are compensated for their work, Cupid’s are still mortals and are expected to keep a full time job and salary while working for Eros Incorporated.
Who is Michael Jonathan?
