Guest Comic - Jessie Slipchinsky
Today’s comic isn’t really that silly, but I love it all the same. Jessie did something really quite incredible - she included a comic within canon. This comic actually takes place in Chapter 8, right before (and during) “Ain’t That The Truth.” Jessie didn’t tell me what she had planned when she wanted to tackle some of Samuel Hall’s backstory, but she pretty much nailed it. I count this as canon.
Jessie is an old friend of mine - she was a year under me at our high school in West Hartford, CT. While we barely talked while we were matriculating in college, by pure luck, she moved out here to Los Angeles and we were able to rekindle the friendship. I’ve been lucky enough to have a friend like her to seriously geek out with; she’s my go-to animation geek-out (”DID YOU SEE THE LAST AIRBENDER TRAILER AHHHHH”).
She’s also incredibly talented in her own right - she’s doing “freelance” animating for various companies, you can see her reel and some of her work on her blog. She’s also working on a secret comic that I’ll be sure to mention when she’s ready to launch it.
If you’re new to the comic, welcome! We just finished up the first season, so now’s a great time to either start reading since we start Season two next monday. You can either start from the beginning of the latest chapter or even the beginning of the comic itself. The latter is obviously recommended; all ten episodes sit well by themselves, but slowly build upon the one before it. Enjoy!
I did an interview yesterday with Bailee DesRocher of Frederator Blogs - Frederator is a site for people who LOVE cartoons (and comics), showing off really exquisitie concept art, animated shorts and interviews.
What’s that? Another guest comic tomorrow!? Gee golly! Brett Muller of The Daily Odyssey takes the reigns and you won’t want to miss it!
