Memo

A little different today, but I hope you don’t mind. You’ll see more familiar faces on Monday.

Before I get into blogging news, I just wanted to attempt to be a good businessman and mention my store, where I’m selling Eros Inc. prints, stickers and a new, non-E.I. minicomic “The Man at Grier’s Fountain.”  If you’ve ever wanted to support Eros Inc. for five dollars or less, this is a great way to do so!

On Wednesday, Grant Morrison was at Meltdown Comics (with Clive Barker) to talk about his career writing comics.  I was more or less unfamiliar with his work - the only comic I had read of his was the new Batman & Robin (which I adore), but apparently he’s written the huge DC comics crossover “Final Crisis.”  In any case, not only is he talented, but he’s a really nice guy.  He was signing comics after the talk, so I picked up Batman & Robin #2, Seaguy and Kill Your Boyfriend.  I finished reading B&R #2, which is really great, and started Seaguy yesterday.  What a peculiar comic.  The first three pages are completely hilarious, in a random, non-sequitar way. It’s one of those “alternate universe” kinda comics, where floating fish and talking horses are kind of a normal thing. In any case, I’ve been loving Grant Morrison’s work lately. I had the oppurtunity to talk to him a bit while he signed stuff, and like I said before, totally cool guy.  Apparently his next work is going to be about Los Angeles (or at least, the feeling of the city) and it was awesome to hear him talk about his reasons why.  A total blast.

Also, related to Meltdown, if you live in LA and you want to pick up my minicomics, you can find two of my short stories there in the appropriate minicomics section.

Yesterday, I got out of work early because, well, I was the only one working there. Everyone else was on vacay. So I got home at around 1pm and decided to actually play a video game I haven’t finished, which is kind of a rare activity for me.  I ended up attempting to finish Bioshock, since the sequel is coming out in a few months, and oh man I’m so glad I did.  I think you can find more eloquent reviews of said game, but I’m just going to say this, it’s like playing a Philosophy-Person Shooter. And it’s fun. That’s all.

I’ve rambled on long enough. Everyone have a wonderful July 4th and we’ll see you all on Monday!

Stumble this!
