You may recognize that goat’s face from somewhere before. Yes, I have had this storyline in mind for awhile.

A pretty okay weekend.  Half of it was spent with Shannon’s lovely parents and it was a nice, albeit short, visit.  Shannon sprained her ankle, so we didn’t do much, but that is more than okay too!  The rest of the weekend was spent lounging and working on Eros Inc. (or catching up on television missed last week).  I had a Barnes and Noble gift certificate from Christmas I wanted to use on Bone: One Volume Edition and Watchmen (yes yes, I realize I’m buying the comic after I saw the movie, I’ve been meaning to get it and I know Shan wants to read it) but the prices for said comics were astronomical compared to how much you pay for it online!  I couldn’t believe it!  No wonder these stores are dying.  So I ordered the aforementioned comics online today, should get them soon.  Can’t wait.

Despite sprained ankles, Shannon painted some more paintings and I think these are her best yet, to be frank.  I’ll show off my favorite, and you can check out the rest if you want to.

She’s been working insanely hard on them (and trying to make some money since she got a pay cut at work, frowny face) and I think they look so cool, especially when framed.

Although Oscar season is over, there are quite a few movies that I’m seriously excited for.  Up is a given, and the latest trailer shows off some of the main characters, all of which look extremely funny.  I also adore the designs of said characters (specificaly Dug the Talking Dog and Kevin the bird).  This will be fun.

I also can’t wait for Observe and Report (yes, another mall cop movie) by Jody Hill, who did Foot Fist Way and the stellar Eastbound and Down.  It’s got this dark tone to it that I think will really make the film work, and ever since Pineapple Express I’ve become a huge fan of Rogan (although I did love him in Freaks and Geeks).

Jim Jarmusch’s new film The Limits of Control looks beautiful and it should, since Wong Kar Wai’s cinematographer is behind the camera.  It looks like an interesting take on the heist film, and since Jarmusch has already done interesting takes on the western (Dead Man) and romance (Broken Flowers), I’m looking forward to this.  Also, the trailer mentions Down By Law, which if you haven’t seen you really should take the time to watch.  He’s a fantastic and talented filmmaker.

Also a few trailers have landed for 500 Days of Summer and Gigantic, both of which star Zooey Deschenel as “the perfect woman for a twenty-something.”  Has anyone else noticed this trend in “indie” films where the main character (typically quiet and male) falls for a beautiful, different, hipster girl (typically a little crazy, and by crazy, I mean mentally but also CRAZY HOT) and the two have a romance that is SO DIFFERENT AND SPECIAL UNLIKE ANY OTHER ROMANCE ON EARTH!?  500 Days of Summer looks interesting just because the style of it seems off the wall, a mix of animation, Garden State and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, while Gigantic just looks sort of meh to me.
