I hope everyone’s weekend was satisfactory!  Ours was fine and dandy, we didn’t really do much because Shannon had to work the Golden Globes on Sunday.  We did love Pineapple Express and hated Step Brothers.  Also, Lifetime has a lot of movies about teen sex.  A lot.  And their titles don’t leave much up to imagination.  C’mon, “Mother at Sixteen?”  Yeah, real creative.  Also, full disclosure: “Mother at Sixteen” not as good as “Fifteen and Pregnant.”

Watched the Globes while I did other things ::cough cough Ding 80 cough:: and I wasn’t severely impressed with who won.  Really loved the Heath Ledger acceptance speech, but was really disappointed Slumdog Millionaire won.  It’s a solid flick, no doubt, but it didn’t really hit me too hard.  Because you know he already won the million, there wasn’t much tension.  And because it was all flashback, there wasn’t much conflict.

This also kinda proves my theory that Hollywood refuses to award any movies that are actually important.  Not only was Milk left out (and a far stronger movie than award obvious films such as Frost/Nixon) but it didn’t take any sort of award home.  That film is fantastic and extremely important in today’s day, yet there’s no reference to it’s existence.  Maybe that’s why Sean Penn didn’t show up.
